Cytology Evaluation Program

This program is a peer group audit, where participants are provided with important women’s health information relating to the population they service, including Cervical Screening Tests (CST) performed. This data is presented in monthly reports accessible via our CPD Portal.

  • What is the annual program criteria?

    To secure the CPD hours, participants must meet the following criteria each calendar year:

    • 20 Cervical Screening Tests (CST) recommended
    • Reflection Activity completed online (emailed to participants later in the year once test criteria met)
  • How do I register?

    You must complete the online registration form by clicking "REGISTER" below. Once submitted, our CPD team will take approximately 1-2 weeks to process, and you will receive a ‘Welcome to Program’ confirmation email.

  • How many CPD hours are awarded?

    Once all the program criteria is met, participants will receive 30 CPD hours each calendar year:

    • 20 CPD Measuring Outcomes hours
    • 5 CPD Reviewing Performance hours
    • 5 CPD Educational Activities hours

    NOTE: RACGP and ACRRM members will have their CPD hours uploaded by us and can download a Certificate of Completion. All other CPD Home members can download a Certificate of Completion to self-record.

  • What Cervical Screening Tests (CSTs) are included?

    The following tests are included in the program criteria:

    • Clinician-Collected Samples
    • Self-Collected Samples (or Dry Swabs)
    • Human Papillomavirus molecular test (HPV)
    • Liquid Based Cytology/LBC (or ThinPrep®)
  • Who should have CSTs?

    Women and people with a cervix from 25 to 74 years of age are encouraged to have a CST every five years to check for HPV.

  • What are the learning outcomes?

    1. Analyse rate of CST recollection requirement and implement strategies to reduce unsatisfactory sample submission.
    2. Compare personal audit data points against national averages, giving participants the opportunity for reflection.
    3. Analyse STI diagnostic rates to assess potential public health impact.
    4. Encourage quality history taking by providing comprehensive clinical notes on sample submission.
    5. Detect issues arising in patient cohorts through analysis of demographic representation.
  • How do I access the CPD Portal?

    Program reports are viewed online via the CPD Portal in eResults. Once your registration has been processed and your initial confirmation email is received, we will email you again with further information about how to access the portal.

    NOTE: Reports are released monthly on the 10th for the previous month, i.e. On the 10th of February, participants can access the January report showing CSTs completed in January. All CSTs submitted for the calendar year will be counted towards the program criteria.
